A Day in Vandará’s Forest: A Nature Lover’s Paradise in Guanacaste

If you love nature and wildlife and you’re in Guanacaste, Vandará is the perfect spot for you! Located in the mountains of Rincón de la Vieja, Vandara is a paradise where you can explore Costa Rica’s Nature and truly enjoy a day of rest, recharging, and relaxation in the forest.

This blog highlights the “must do” activities when you’re visiting the dry rainforest at Vandara.  There are so many natural wonders in this lush area.  It’s time to explore!

Nature and Wildlife:

Costa Rica is known around the world for its rich biodiversity, flora and fauna.

Despite covering only 0.03% of the Earth’s surface, the country is home to around 6% of the world’s biodiversity: housing over 500,000 species.

It’s very common to spot wildlife when visiting Vandara. When hiking in the dry rainforest trails, keep your eyes open for howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, toucans, a variety of birds, and all kinds of flora species.

There is a beautiful waterfall located on the property at Vandara.  It is about 50 feet tall and falls directly into the Tizate river.  The sound of rushing water signals the presence of this hidden gem and it is recommended to immerse yourself in the refreshing cascade as there are a ton of medicinal minerals in this water.

Whether you choose to simply witness the waterfall from one of the many thermal hot springs at Vandara or if you venture to dive into the river and feel the force of the waterfall, it is definitely a “must-do” activity at Vandara.

Relaxing In The Thermal Hot Springs:

The Thermal Hot Springs are a valuable feature; you can soak in warm, mineral-rich waters, surrounded by the sounds of the forest at Vandará. The experience is like a “spa day” straight out of nature’s handbook. Fed by the volcanic activity beneath the Earth’s surface, these natural thermal hot springs provide a unique and rejuvenating experience.

Tizate River:

Get ready to be amazed by the natural beauty of the Tizate River.  The riverbanks of the Tizate are lined with lush, green trees, wildlife and flora and fauna.   Enjoy its peaceful qualities from above the river while walking on the Hanging Bridge as well as while immersed in the Thermal Hot Springs.

If you feel like getting a massage to fully relax your mind and body, take note: The Spa at Vandara is located overlooking the Tizate River. Don’t miss the chance for an exceptional treat within nature!
